Gavin headed off on a long adventure today into the world of higher education. It all starts somewhere and for Gavin it's at Washington Elementary - GO WILDCATS!!
He's handling the transition really well. It's been tough on him going from his 9-10 hour days at pre-school down to a mere 3.5 hrs a day in Kindergarten. He's had Grandma and Grandpa Sayre in town to help fill the empty hours and of course he's catching up on a lot of Phineas and Ferb & Transformers videos!

Check out the pics plus a few shots from our trip to the Monterey Aquarium.

We're actually 10 days late with this post but we've been partying it up in Southern California. The whole family loaded up the family truckster and headed off for a week at Legoland and Disneyland.
The trip went surprisingly well. Everyone had a great time and the kids were beyond excited! At least the big kids anyway - Cara spent way more time in her stroller or being held than she cares for.
On Tuesday night we officially celebrated Gavin's birthday at a dinner in Goofy's Kitchen which included visits from a ton of the Disney characters.
Gavin and Lily were thrilled to get their pictures with Minnie, Goofy and Pluto plus Chip and Dale.
Overall the vacation was really nice. They already want to go back again next year! PICS
A big milestone for Cara this week. She braved the scissors and sat down for her 1st haircut. Given the fact that she ended up seated next to 2 kids who sounded like they were being tortured she came through pretty well. Sitting on mommy's lap seemed to help calm her down a little bit but regardless it was a rough start. With a little help from a giant sucker she calmed down and sat well for the rest of the cut.
We're getting ready for another crazy couple of months that will include a visit from Grandma & Papa Sayre, plus business trips for Jenna to Vacaville, Oceanside & Basel, Switzerland. Then we're heading to Disneyland & Legoland for Gavin's Birthday. Wish us luck!!
Be sure to check out the great photos from all of the Easter festivities.
Cara kicked off her birthday week with a nasty fall at school that is the reason for the beautifuly little shiner on her forehead. Our little girl fancies herself quite the climber and explorer. A few falls and bumps won't stop her so she soldiered on and enjoyed her birthday. While she may not have been as in to the cake as Lily or interested in opening presents like Gavin, we think she had a good time. Once she opened the Sock Monkey her face lit up and that was it. She didn't need any more presents; she was happy. A good day indeed.
Monnie Carlson is out for a visit and was able to celebrate Cara's birthday. She's helping pitch in around the house while Jenna is in Singapore. 3 kids, 2 weeks, 1 person is pretty much impossible so we are very grateful that she's been able to travel out for a visit!
Lily had a great 3rd birthday with tons of sugar, fun and more sugar. Cupcakes at school, Chuck E. Cheese, a pile of presents and plenty of cake and ice cream. She had the girliest birthday you could imagine. Beatuiful funfetti cupcakes with pink frosting that Jenna expertly decorated with valentine's sprinkles and one candy gum drop heart on top of each one. Then she had a cake with pink and purple frosting with a huge giant heart made out of dozens of tiny little candy hearts right in the middle. After that it was time for presents which ranged from a ballerina outfit and tons of pretty dresses to a new princess scooter and helmet. PHOTOS
The girl is so happy to be 3. She let absolutely everyone know that it was her birthday - and most of them she even asked - "Wanna sing me happy birthday?" Well do ya?

Cara had a very big first Christmas! Aside from the usuals - tons of presents, Santa coming down the chimney, loads of Yule; Cara had some very big events. On Christmas Eve we officially declared her a 'walker'. Just 10 months old and she's walking all over the place. That officially makes her the earliest walker in our brood. Lily started at 11 months while Gavin took until 13 months to get up and going.
The other exciting event for Cara was to finally have a 3rd tooth pop through. It took almost 2 months between teeth 2 & 3 but it's finally here. The weird thing is that the tooth that came through is the second from the left on the top. She looks a bit like a jack-o-lantern. Fortunately, the other 3 teeth on top seem to be poking through and might show up in the next couple of weeks.

Grandma and Grandpa Sayre left for home earlier this week so last weekend the kids got to enjoy a little taste of Christmas with some early gifting frenzy. They were in heaven; I can't wait until Christmas morning!
We hope that you all have an absolutely perfect Christmas!
Love,
Bob, Jenna, Gavin, Lily & Cara
